A message from the chairman

As Chairman of St Matthews Theatrical Society, I would like to invite you all to sit back, wind down and have fun. This year's production of Inspector Drake and the Perfekt Crime, is a fun filled farce that will have you laughing from start to finish. With such a talented cast and crew, combined with the professionalism of our
producer, you might be fooled into thinking that you are in the West End of London or even Broadway. We are all proud to be part of St Matthews and our hope
is that you will be entertained to the highest level and will keep coming back for more. Thanks to everyone who has helped, on stage, back stage and front of house and a big thanks to you our loyal audience.
We hope to see you again for our pantomime Wind in the Willows from 30th November to 4th December 2004

Howard Wolfenden

A message from the Producer

First of all I would like to thank the cast for their hard work and commitment during the rehearsals for this production. In particular I would like to thank
Martin Lawlor for his help in producing this year's play.
I would also like to thank everyone who has helped in anyway both behind the scenes and front of house. Without their support it would be impossible
to maintain the standards we have achieved over the years.
The play was written by David Tristram and is one of a series of plays involving Inspector Drake. David's Publishing Company is called Flying Ducks Publications.
An appropriate name considering flying ducks have some involvement in the production.

Now for a taster of the play.

When a genius commits a murder, the plan is perfect. But is it foolproof?

Inspector Drake faces his greatest challenge, as he attempts to unravel a plot with more twists in it than, well, a really twisty thing.
Who is the mysterious Doctor Short, and why did he marry a warthog? Has he murdered his fourth wife - or did she murder him first? Has he really got two daughters called Sabrina, or is one of them telling porkies? Where is Frank the taxi driver? What was the pope doing in the woods? And perhaps most importantly of all, why is there a lamppost in the living room.
These are just some of the questions facing the worlds most famous dick. As he gropes for the answers to The Perfekt Crime.
I am sure you will have a great evening and hope you enjoy the show, and if you do please tell your friends and encourage them to come along.

All profits from the show will be donated to the Parish Centre Refurbishment Fund.

A comment from the author
:
"The more observant of you may notice the odd expletive and irreverent phrase. They are there for the sake of comedy. They are not there to offend, and it is our experience they do not. This play has been thoroughly tested in front of live audiences."

We have however taken the view that some expletives and irreverent phrases may have caused offence to some members of the audience. Where this is the case we have made every effort to soften these down.

Enjoy the show
